We began the day with a walk over to the U.S. Consulate to meet with Jared Yancey, the Assistant Public Affairs Officer, Pam Mfobo, the Cultural Affairs Assistant and Selaelo Maseko, Cultural Affairs Specialist. We had a great conversation and gained some insight into U.S. - South Africa relations, the education system and the importance of language in South African history and culture. IT was a great way to start off our week as we continue developing ideas for discussion between the U.S and South African classrooms.
After our meeting we headed out to Nigel to make the first of five school visits at Tandi Eleanor School. Lebagong is the teacher from Tandi and will be working with Tim during the year.
Throughout the week, the U.S. teachers will have an opportunity to visit all of the schools before heading to the partner's school for two full days.
